Hey, whadayouknow? Freedom DOES ring in these here parts, and all’s right with the world. Fences have been mended, bridges un-burned, and blah blah blah it’s not important. Just know that there were no losers here, nor were there winners. Except for America’s most cherished principles, I suppose. They won. And so too did the various IndyCar employees whose ghastly secrets remain buried in my cellar. They won most of all.
(On a more serious note … bless you, blackmail. Bless you! Is there any problem you CAN’T fix? That’s a rhetorical question, obviously. Because the answer is no. There is not. You are the dark, tawdry, wholly-illegal beacon of hope in an otherwise hopeless situation. Oh how I adore you.)
Let us get back to what it is we do, shall we?

By Roy Hobbson, February 15, 2010 @ 1:12 pm
Truly, thanks to everyone who wrote in to IndyCar & otherwise took the Pagoda’s back. You all were the Nate Dogg to its Warren G.

I’m humming the Battle Hymn of the Republic right now… truly inspirational

On September 16, 2008, it was reported that Nate Dogg(Snoop Dog’s cuz) was using an assisted-breathing tube for comfort, he has had 2 strokes…
By larz, February 15, 2010 @ 1:45 pm
President’s Day and Roy back on the air…coincidence? Damn right, for now at least… Or, is it? Yes, its coincidence…just maybe (vision of Roy riding Ganassi piggy-back as his chariot)…just maybe.
By DZ, February 15, 2010 @ 1:50 pm
Any mid-90s, mid-grade, rap reference is OK by me. Now, what was it we were talking about?
Oh yes, I find the smell of the 100% ethanol to be just a bit more pleasing and sweet than the old methanol formula…
By Bickel Dad, February 15, 2010 @ 1:54 pm
Fantastic. See kids, complaining does work.
By Bickelmom, February 15, 2010 @ 2:08 pm
If I knew how to sew or knit or anything home economics class failed to teach me, I would make you all Pagoda patches to celebrate! Perhaps I could sketch something with broken crayons or smush something together with half-dried old play-dough?
By Asian Thom, February 15, 2010 @ 2:12 pm
Was the three-day banishment really that bad? Does everyone really get here from Indycar.com? Roy, can you get your $7.95 back from Danic…errr godaddy.com for the domain name?
By Riss, February 15, 2010 @ 2:16 pm
Pagoda lives! And it’s within 24 hours of Chip winning Daytona. A great day for open wheel nation (except poor Sam, who got taken out by his teammates error…come home Champ, you were the best ever to grace this league).
In all seriousness, good to see things back to status quo. Life without Pagoda would be sad and boring. Thats a life I wish to not imagine.
By BP, February 15, 2010 @ 2:38 pm
To quote the late, great 2Pac, “Break out the champagne glasses…”
I believe 2Pac actually took the quote from Chipper, shortly after Montoya’s 2000 500 win.
By Shane Rogers, February 15, 2010 @ 3:04 pm
If you can smush something together with broken crayons and half-dried old play-dough, you’re wasted here, get down to between Turns 1 and 2 at Daytona IMMEDIATELY!
By Carrie, February 15, 2010 @ 3:15 pm
I think Mr. Ganassi was feeling benevolent (and a little high) after his guys win last night! Thanks Chip! We’ll continue to exaggerate the size of your manhood so long as it keeps the SP open.
By Coz, February 15, 2010 @ 3:22 pm
Back Home Again!
By Nicki, February 15, 2010 @ 3:41 pm
I attempted to come and read the SP last night after Chip’s guy won the Daytona. I wanted to see what the great Mr. Hobson had to say about that! I was saddened at that time to not be able to find the SP, but then this morning all was right with the world once more! Welcome back Mr. Hobson, welcome back!
By Brian McKay, February 15, 2010 @ 3:54 pm
I missed all the hoopla… Glad that the Pagoda still speaks.
By Mike Hare, February 15, 2010 @ 4:31 pm
So glad reason prevailed. Maybe the new regime is willing to listen to the fans?
By Schrementi, February 15, 2010 @ 5:18 pm
I heard this made Jamie McMurray cry
By Skotch, February 15, 2010 @ 7:12 pm
Hooray! The Pagoda is back! Any views on the Lola plans?
By P Daddy, February 15, 2010 @ 8:00 pm
Was there ever any f’ing doubt? The Pagodites have spoken, way to represent! Now don’t let us down Roy or we’ll have your ass.
By HooverOnTheWeb, February 15, 2010 @ 8:31 pm
Another victory for freedom of speech or whatever it is that Hobbson does. Thank God (literaly), I was about to lose hope in the powers that be vision of freedom.
By Catie, February 15, 2010 @ 8:50 pm
did I hear someone mention bacon? I’m in.
By Rob, February 15, 2010 @ 9:06 pm
Yes Catie, Bacon. mmmmm, bacon. In all it’s hickory smoked, sizzling, mouth watering glory. And don’t forget the scotch.
By H.B. Donnelly, February 16, 2010 @ 8:05 am
I submit, for the pagoda’s approval: The Glass of Bacon ($2.95)
If that doesn’t have you uncontrollably weeping stars and stripes American patriotism from your tear ducts, then go trade in your passport for a French one and go eat your garlicky snails.
By Heit Harrelson, February 16, 2010 @ 8:38 am
Roy – do you ever use reverse psychology? Me neither. But maybe Chip was gifted with a thimble and you hit a nerve. A bad experience in high school P.E. set the course for Delta Wang. Does anyone know why they call him Chip? It’s all starting to add up.
By The Speedgeek, February 16, 2010 @ 9:35 am
Dammit, Schrementi. I’m not used to laughing at my desk before 9:00 AM. How long do you thing “Jamie McMurray crying” jokes are going to be funny? One year? Five? I don’t know, but I’m planning on using them daily until I find out.
Oh, and Welcome Back, Hobbson. The world was a little less drunk there for a few days. And I didn’t care for it.
By redd, February 16, 2010 @ 9:51 am
good to have you back, hobbson. just in time for Mardi Gras so I assume you’ll be taking a few days off now…
By Hamilton Fish, February 16, 2010 @ 2:16 pm
Zie Germans are rolling us in ice shuffleboard…why do I care or watch? I don’t really have a good answer for that. The announcer did just say, “we have 2 of the best ice makers in the world here in Vancouver….” my question is how do you A) become an ice maker and B)become infamous as a result of it? Ahhhh, the Cannucks gotta love ‘em.
By boilerrx, February 16, 2010 @ 2:56 pm
Good to know that the cause of liberty has triumphed back on the home front!
